As you can see in the resulting image, Vance AI did a fine job removing the ocean; however, there is still some left in the hair. A far more noticeable issue was that it removed a part of a woman’s body as well, although it doesn’t resemble the background at all.
Similarly to inPixio, the image you download from Vance AI Background removal tool will be a JPG, which you will have to reformat to png if you want to take full advantage of background removal.

2. Remove.bg
Removebg is extremely easy to use an online background removal tool that you can test for free. If you, however, need more images to remove background from, you should get either a subscription plan or a pay as you go plan. Both are very cost-efficient, starting at only $0.15/image. If you have your service, you will want to use API, which lets you integrate Removebg.
To remove background for free with Removebg, simply follow these steps:

2. Click on Upload Image or simply drag the image in.
3. The tool will automatically remove the background.
4. When it’s done, click download or download HD.
Unfortunately, if you’re not happy with the result, there’s not much you can do, as Removebg doesn’t offer any settings or sliders. In this case, I recommend the following online service.
3. PhotoScissors
Similarly to Removebg, PhotoScissors is an online tool for background removal that works both for free and by paying. The paid version allows you to download full-resolution images by spending credits. You can purchase credits with credit packs, starting at $0.03 per credit. PhotoScissors accepts JPGs, PNGs, and WebPs with a maximum size of 10Mb and max resolution of 4.2Mpx.

2. Click on Upload Image or drop the file into the interface.
3. The software will process the image.
4. If you’re not happy with the result, you can tweak using the tools.
5. Download the image.
Importantly, you can fix the resulting image if you’re not happy with the result within the editor. The PhotoScissors background removal tool has some issues with properly masking the hair. But, you can always improve the result by tweaking the final image within the editor.
4. Clipping Magic
Clipping Magic is an online tool for free background removal with a beautiful interface. Unfortunately, Clipping Magic doesn’t allow you to download processed images for free — nor even low-resolution images. If you want to download the image, you need to subscribe to one of the three plans.
Clipping Magic also supports bulk editing and API access, which comes in handy if you own your online service.

3. Wait for it to finish processing the image, which takes quite a while.
4. Subscribe to download the image.
If you’re not happy with the result, you can use the image editor to help the software identify what needs to be masked out and what is your object.
Clipping Magic very nicely removed the background. The final result looks very professional. The background remover also managed to fix the dark edges around the shoe, created by the black background.
5. inPixio
InPixio is an online collection of tools, from background removal to a meme generator. Unlike other background removal tools in this list, inPixio’s doesn’t remove the background automatically. Instead, you have to use a brush to select or deselect part of the image, which isn’t always very handy, but it works well. What is more, the processing takes a long time in comparison to other tools, but the results are fantastic!

3. Processing will take some time
4. Brush the part of the image that you won’t keep.
5. Click Apply
6. Click Save photo, when you’re happy with the result.
For this example, I have inPixio a rather difficult job of removing a background from a necklace. It took me a lot longer to remove since I had to do it manually. Therefore, I don’t think it’s the best tool for bulk background removal.
What is more, the downloaded image is in jpg format, which is very undesirable for an image that had its background removed, plus, it was not opening. I had to manually change the format to png to make it work.
Part 4: Conclusion
In conclusion, my favourite tool for removing background online is Removebg, as it performs the best overall. Besides, it allows the use of its API and bulk editing, which is a fantastic option for any business.
If none of the listed tools fit your needs, I recommend Photoshop, which requires a lot more manual labour, but consequently always delivers the results you need. However, Photoshop will cost you more than the listed tools if you intend to use it only for background removal.
In the end, you should use the tool that you feel the most comfortable with.
